Jidhr: daily Arabic word games

Every day, three short games in Modern Standard Arabic (fuṣḥā), the same for every player. Play in 5 to 10 minutes, then share your result on WhatsApp without spoilers. Jidhr (جذر) means “root”.

  Sixteen words, four groups of four: find what links them. Like Connections, with themes from across the Arab world.

• Al-Kalima · الكلمة

  Guess five-letter words; the colours guide you after each try. Like Wordle, with several words at once and each word’s meaning above its grid.

• Jidhr · جذر

  A three-letter root sits at the centre of a star: make as many words as you can that contain it in order. Our signature game, built on the Arabic root system.

Who is it for?

Anyone who reads Arabic fluently: native speakers, the diaspora, advanced learners. The game and its words are in Arabic; you can pick Eastern (٠١٢٣) or Western (0123) digits in the settings.
